That's (not) Life

January 2023

Mouths unmoving, for no one dares to speak. Seen but not heard. Remember? Let's listen to Sinatra! Sing the blues away. In it's place a hot red ember, growing and spreading into a wildfire.

That's (not) Life explores the personal issues overlooked in our childhood that trouble us as adults. Can we break free from those burdens or is that life? Like all the people say.

your CHOICE

A Chemical Composition

May 2021

A Chemical Composition is a solo practice developed through a series of provocations, exploring the natural element of carbon within various compound states.

What occurs when the body is objectified in a precise temporal frame with other objects withholding the same foundational elements? Which will wither first within these boundaries; will the body succumb to fatigue, charcoal abrade, or paper tear?

Tunnel Vision 2020

August 2020

Tunnel Vision is a short solo dance film produced and performed by performance artist Katie Byford. The work highlights the significance of the arts within our modern world, encouraging audiences to open their eyes, accepting and appreciating art in all constructs.

One can continue to dismiss the importance of art and attempt to justify its supposed lack of “substance”- but ultimately without art, we have and are nothing.
